SHENANDOAH, Texas (KTRK) – Two women were arrested after allegedly stealing a French bulldog from a pet store.
Shenandoah police said the incident occurred in Petland Woodlands on Monday afternoon. Police said they received the call about the incident around 12.25 p.m.

Two women entering Petland Woodlands asked to see “Mario”, a 14 week old French bulldog. When a clerk pulled the puppy out, the women grabbed the dog, ran out of the store, and jumped into a silver PT cruiser with no license plates.

Petland employees contacted the police, who quickly found the women in Woodlands Mall, where they were allegedly trying to put a license plate on the car. Both women were arrested.
Mario was returned to Petland and was unharmed.
“We are relieved that Mario was safely returned to his Petland family and is unharmed,” said Andrew Jones, manager of Petland Woodlands. “We thank the dedicated men and women of the Shenandoah Police Department who responded immediately and helped us get Mario home.”
The charges against the women have not been made public.
