MINNEAPOLIS (KARE) – A French bulldog caretaker has an uncertain future due to health issues and has created a bucket list to enjoy.
Teri Woolard says five-month-old Hammie went from “a little old man who loves to cuddle to a crazy, wacky puppy.”
Woolard is Hammie’s caretaker and coordinator of the newborn program at Secondhand Hounds in Minneapolis.
The French bulldog may not live long.
Hammie was born with a cleft palate and several rare heart conditions that require special care from animal rescue services.
The puppy can also have an initial surgery of its kind at the University of Minnesota.
In their short time together, Woolard set out to help Hammie create a bucket list.
“The little guy has some big adventures planned for this summer,” she said.
The couple were busy ticking off their list.
The two live their best lives on a Zamboni, playing arcade games, posing at a photo shoot and taking a Pilates class.
“Dogs, they don’t have the same ideas about everyday life as we do. You don’t know tomorrow. You live in the moment that is so great, ”said Woolard.
If Hammie can perform the operation and it is successful, he may be able to be put up for adoption.
