Baseball: Huskies rally to down Mud Puppies

Ryan McDonald went with bases loaded to score Ambren Voitik with the game-winning run in the lower part of the eighth inning when the Duluth Huskies scored a 5-4 victory over the Minnesota Mud Puppies Stadium Thursday night in Northwoods League Baseball ahead of 610 at Wade Stadium.

The Great Plains East leading Huskies (6-3 in the second half) trailed 4-0 before scooping six hits one run in the fifth and four in the eighth. Voitik continues to play at his all-star level with three hits to lead the Huskies, while Charlie Rhee, Calyn Halvorson and Bryan Broecker added two hits each, while Duluth coped with 12 hits.

Peter Brookshaw had two doubles, one run and two RBIs to lead the Mud Puppies (1-4).

The same teams play against each other again on Friday at 6:35 p.m. in the Wade Stadium.
