Agra: In a terrible incident, a motorcyclist allegedly mowed down two puppies in the Agra district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident was captured with a CCTV camera.
The police have now filed an FIR in the case and started a search for the accused. The incident occurred on the night of June 14 in the Sikandra area of Taj city.
The CCTV video showed the pups playing with their mother across the street when the biker passed. After a few seconds, the biker returned to the location and crushed one of the pups that killed him, according to a report in the Times of India.
In less than a minute, the defendant returned and mowed another puppy. “Although there was enough space for his bike, he appears to have purposely crushed the pups,” the report quoted Anjali Yadav, a local resident who saw the pups’ bodies and later got the CCTV footage to learn about the incident.
The woman later shared the video of the incident with a WhatsApp group seeking help to rescue the other four pups.
“I suddenly heard a loud dog barking and when I came out of the house I saw two puppies dead. I buried them in a field with the help of my brother,” she said.
Yadav said the CCTV footage clearly confirmed that the puppies were deliberately killed by the man. Animal rights activists later filed a complaint with the Sikandra Police Station.
Police filed an FIR against an unidentified person for rash driving and under the Animal Cruelty Prevention Act of 1960. Kamlesh Singh, the responsible Sikandra Police Station, said efforts are being made to trace the defendant.
