NEW LENOX, IL – A new dog training facility will soon open in New Lenox. The New Lenox Village Board approved a special use permit for All About the K-9 on Ferro Drive in 1921 New Lenox.
The company occupies 1,350 square meters in a multi-tenant building in the Ferro Industrial Park. Special use permit was required because the property is reserved for I-1, Limited Industrial, said Robin Ellis, director of community development and assistant village administrator.
The Village Board waived the first reading of the ordinance and approved it at the board meeting on Monday as the lease for the company takes effect on June 1st.
Owner Heather Tannura said she is very focused on rescue dogs and is offering a $ 20 discount for life if you rescue your dog.
“My goal is to protect dogs from animal shelters,” she said.
Tannura is certified for training by the American Kennel Club. She had previously hired a place from Francis Field for her apprenticeship.
“I just love the dogs and I hope it can improve our community,” she said.
“It sounds like a great project,” said Mayor Tim Baldermann.
