Family-owned dog training facility now open in Abbeville

A new shop in Abbeville is open and ready to welcome and train your furry friends.

Family-owned Louisiana Working Dogs offers a variety of trainings for all types of dogs. If you’ve got a new puppy, or have just adopted a dog, they can teach the dog – and the owner – the basics. But they also offer training and board & train programs for working dogs, such as guard training or K9 training.

Quentin and Allison Blanchard celebrated the opening of their store on Saturday at 9505 North Road with music, games, raffles, dog ratings and more.

There were also some K9 demonstrations so that those interested can see what their training is producing.

Owner Quentin Blanchard said her goal at Louisiana Working Dogs is to give structure to dogs so they can feel comfortable and safe. They work to secure the future of every dog in their eternal home, and that goes way beyond teaching your dog to sit and stay.

“We’re tired of seeing dogs being tossed aside at rescues and shelters. What we want to do is offer these things to people,” he said.

Louisiana Working Dogs offers off-leash work, K9, and puppy and dog training in Abbeville, but also offers private tuition in Abbeville and Lafayette.
