Police arrested a man who was accused of beating his five-month-old puppy. Investigators said the alleged incident was captured by a camera.

Witnesses said it happened Monday night at the Messina Apartments in New Smyrna Beach on State Road 44.

“I just saw a dog hit his dog while he was walking him and I picked him up on camera,” said a man who called 911.

On instructions from neighbors, the police found the suspect’s home.

“There is literally like dog piss and feces all over the floor because he hit the dog so badly,” said another 911 operator.

The 37-year-old Danny Brandner was arrested for cruelty to animals. The following was heard through an officer’s body-worn camera during the arrest.

“Is that real?” Brandner can be heard asking the officer. “Yes!” the officer answers. “Why? What did I do illegally?” he asks

Brander didn’t say much to police on the bodycam posted for FOX 35 News, but said he didn’t injure his dog.

“I did not hit my animal,” he told the officers. “We have a video of it,” they explained.

The dog was placed in the South East Volusia County Humane Society. Police said the dog was okay and was examined on Wednesday afternoon.
