Press release: Dufthund
Scenthound, on a mission to keep dogs healthy and clean, recently announced the launch of Gainesville’s first and only canine wellness and grooming service. The new location, 2835 SW 91st on Haile Publix Market Square, will open at the end of May. This is the first of four locations that Joseph and Kathryn Pizzurro plan to open across north-central Florida. Scenthound takes a wellness-based approach that is dedicated to improving the quality of life for dogs. Embedded in the name, Scenthound focuses on the five core areas of grooming: skin, fur, ears, nails and teeth.
The company’s Scent Techs are fully trained to provide proper care for every dog - regardless of breed – and the membership program gives dog parents the peace of mind that their dog is routinely cared for. Pet parents can choose the membership that best suits their dog and add additional grooming services as needed.
“We looked for a community-based company for years and when we heard about Scenthound, we were immediately won over by the concept,” said Joseph Pizzurro. “Gainesville is an amazing community with individuals and families who clearly value what a dog can bring to their lives.”
Prior to joining the Scenthound Pack, Joseph Pizzurro received an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and worked in the medical device market for over 30 years. Kathryn Pizzurro has over 15 years of experience in the orthopedic trauma market and currently works as an editor and freelance writer. The couple are parents of high school students Caroline and Mary and their 8-year-old rescue pup, Pi. The Pizzurro family is excited to provide their pet-friendly Gainesville community with an easy, economical, and health-focused way to care for their dogs.
“Dogs play a vital role in the health and well-being of the whole family,” says Kathryn Pizzurro. “Scenthound offers a convenient, inexpensive way to make grooming your dog part of your monthly routine. Scenthound Gainesville SW is located in Haile Publix Market Square for pet parents to drop off their dogs, run various errands, and then pick up a clean, fresh smelling puppy. ”
Scenthound was founded in 2015 after CEO Tim Vogel spent more than 10 years running both a mobile grooming company and local grooming centers, seeing firsthand the shortcomings in a booming pet industry and lack of education around dog care. Vogel is committed to providing dogs and their owners with a quick, easy, and affordable solution that not only keeps them looking clean and good, but also maintains their overall health and wellbeing.
“With a strong passion for dogs and pet owners, Joseph and Kathryn will have a huge impact on the Gainesville community,” said Vogel. “We are thrilled to welcome both Joseph and Kathryn to Scenthound, who are driven to fulfill our mission to provide every dog with the wellness care they need.”
