One puppy dies, 7 others recovering after allegedly being thrown over bridge in Logan County

One puppy died and seven others are recovering after officials said they were thrown over a bridge in Logan County. The Bella Foundation posted on Facebook that it was contacted Saturday afternoon after eight 5 week old pups were found under a bridge near South Westminster and Triplett Road in Logan County. The people who found the pups described the scene and Bella Foundation officials said it was clear the pups were found over the bridge while in a plastic container that was strapped or taped shut. “We can only assume whoever did this thought the container would land open in the water,” said Bella Foundation officials. “Unfortunately, one of the eight puppies did not survive the fall.” The other seven puppies survived without serious injuries and are cared for by the Bella Foundation. Officials are working with Logan County’s law enforcement agencies to find out who was responsible for the incident. “Because of the isolated area the pups were found in, it will be almost impossible to know who did this or why,” said Bella Foundation officials. The Bella SPCA Rescue Center team checked the pups for injuries on Saturday night, bathed she, to remove the mud, treated them for fleas and / or ticks and gave them something to eat. Officials said the pups are bright and alert on Sundays and do what pups do. After a visit to the Bella Foundation’s veterinary team, the puppies either stay in the rescue center or in a foster home for the next three to four weeks. When they are old enough, the pups start a new life with a new family. Anyone who recognizes the pups or has information is asked to contact the Bella Foundation at [email protected] The Bella Foundation has also started a fundraiser for the pups so that they and others can get the care they need when they come to the foundation.

The Bella Foundation posted on Facebook that it was contacted Saturday afternoon after eight 5 week old pups were found under a bridge near South Westminster and Triplett Road in Logan County.

The people who found the pups described the scene, and officials from the Bella Foundation said it was clear the pups were found over the bridge while in a plastic container that was tied or taped shut.

“We can only assume that whoever did this thought the container was going to end up in the water; instead, the container hit the bank and broke open, ”said Bella Foundation officials. “Unfortunately, one of the eight puppies did not survive the fall.”

The other seven pups survived without serious injuries and are in the care of the Bella Foundation. Officials are working with Logan County’s law enforcement agencies to find out who was responsible for the incident.

“Because of the isolated area the pups were found in, it will be almost impossible to know who did this or why,” said Bella Foundation officials.

The Bella SPCA Rescue Center team examined the pups for injuries on Saturday night, bathed them to remove the mud, treated them for fleas and / or ticks, and gave them food.

On Sunday officials said the pups are bright and alert and doing what pups do.

After a visit to the Bella Foundation’s veterinary team, the puppies either stay in the reception center or in a foster home for the next three to four weeks. When they are old enough, the pups start a new life with a new family.
