Hamilton police are seeking help from the public after a ute with a 10-month-old puppy on board was stolen from a city street.

The brown tabby puppy was in the back seat of the Nissan Navara ute that was stolen just before 3 p.m. on Thursday outside a construction site on Fifth Avenue, Enderley.

The ute, with the registration FZC996 and signage from NZ Concrete Structures, was later seen at the crime scene of a Frankton store allegedly attempting to steal a generator.

Anyone who has information about the ute or the puppy is asked to contact the police at 105 and provide the file number 210701/6647.
