The Rescue Duck and Cocker Spaniel have become two unlikely best friends, who eat, hug, and wallow on the floor together.
When their owners Sarah Jane Little, 26, and Sam Reedley, 27, brought their new pup fern to Whitby, Yorkshire, in February, they were territorialized by the duck Dennis. I was worried that it might be.
It quickly became clear, however, that the two-year-old duck would not bite the new dog, and they have been playing with them ever since.
Whitby owners Sarah Jane Little, 26, and Sam Reedley, 27 (pictured) are concerned that their house ducks could become territorial when they bring their new pups home in February. Did.
Now the first thing in the morning when Dennis comes out of the hatch, Dennis walks around the farm looking for a puppy companion.
A six-month-old fern will roll the ground with a bird companion, sharing food, and watching it to make sure it is swimming in a small pond. I am.
Account Manager Sarah-Jayne said: When Dennis enters the pond, Fern is watching over him.
“She doesn’t have the courage to get along with him yet, but he’s safe because she stands next to him and watches over him.
However, it soon emerged that the duck Dennis and the six-month-old cocker spaniel Fern became the best of companions and have been playing together ever since.
Sarah Jane says TV is watching a two-year-old duck swim in a pond and “make sure he’s safe,” but he hasn’t dared join him.
“They roll together on the floor every day now. She lies down and lets Dennis play. I was worried it might be a territory, but now I’m definitely playing. I am.
“Dennis has been the boss since day one, but they’ve been best friends ever since. Everything is a game for them now.
“The first thing Dennis does in the morning is look for a fern. If for some reason she’s not with us later in the day, he can be seen disappointed. I’m going.
Sarah Jane and Joiner Sam rescued Dennis earlier this year with another duck named Dorothy and now have four ducks, four chickens and an ondori with fern. ..
Now every morning Dennis runs around the farm looking for a puppy companion when he leaves the hatch. They often play rolling on the floor together.
Sarah-Jayne stated that Dennis was “a boss from day one,” but they became best friends and everything is a game to them.
The couple rescued Dennis earlier this year with another duck named Dorothy and now have an Ondori with four ducks, four chickens, and a dog fern.
Sarah-Jayne said, “Fern doesn’t care or care about the other three ducks. Only Dennis made the cut.
“I think I realized that I needed to be in harmony with whoever was helping her. She had known him since she was a puppy so she knew to play with him instead of chasing him. I’m going.
“He’s so brave that every morning he takes out the fern and sees all the animals, and Dennis rushes to her.
“What’s even more interesting is that Dennis doesn’t care about other dogs. If our family brings a dog, he doesn’t care.
Sam, who works as a carpenter, and Sarah Jane, who works as an account manager, say Fern even shares their food with her bird friend.
The special friendship between the couple is unique, as Dennis has no interest in other dogs and Fern maintains his hunting instinct with other birds – except Dennis.
“Being a working dog, Fern blushes other birds as they walk, but she’s had a Dennis since she was a puppy so a hunting relationship wasn’t established.
“Some people think that Dennis is a little confused and fantasizing about a long distance, but it’s definitely a friendship.
“When Dennis started chasing her, Fern wasn’t sure what was going on, and I think she was a little scared, but he’s going to bring her closer and hurt her. She also started chasing him when it wasn’t. “
