FREDRICKSBURG, Texas – A Texas Dalmatian puppy gave birth to 16 pups at a veterinary clinic last week, KSAT reported.
Fredericksburg veterinarian Brittni Turner told KSAT that she helped deliver the pups via an emergency caesarean section.
The owners of the dog, named Luna, told Turner that they had to take her to the vet because her contractions were stuck at home. An x-ray revealed that a puppy was incorrectly positioned, according to KSAT, and couldn’t get out on its own.
Since then, veterinarians, including Turner, have safely given birth to the puppy and 11 other puppies, wrote the Fredericksburg Veterinary Hospital on Facebook. She had to call in her receptionists and technicians to help resuscitate and clean each puppy.
“The staff always said. ‘Certainly no more is possible and then I would get two more out of it. It was absolute chaos, ”Turner told KSAT. “The staff was amazing and it was really a team effort … lots of ‘101 Dalmatian’ jokes were made.”
Turner said KSAT Luna and her sixteen pups are doing very well. Every puppy will go to their home forever once they are old enough to leave their mother.
