Weeks old puppy left In dumpster, authorities search for suspect

On July 4th, a three-month-old puppy was found crying in a dumpster by a Des Moines police officer in Liberty. The Animal Rescue League says she is malnourished and covered in trash. “It’s devastating,” said Joe Stafford. Animal Rescue League of Iowa Animal Service Director: “She was dehydrated, hadn’t eaten in a long time, and seemed to be choking on something.” Now it is determined who left the dog in the dumpster and to find out if Liberty was part of a litter. “We are not only interested in what happened, but where are the other pups from the litter? Are there other animals that could be in danger?” said Stafford. Anyone with any tip or information regarding the incident is urged to call the Des Moines Police Department.

It is now being determined who left the dog in the dumpster at all.

And to find out if Liberty was part of a litter.

“Not only are we concerned about what happened, but where are the other pups from the litter? Are there other animals that may be in danger,” said Stafford.
