While the world’s scientists were busy solving a pandemic, the folks at Yappy.com got to the bottom of the big questions.
Which breeds of dogs are most spoiled?
Yes, it’s time again for me to go through a study spam emailed to me by the company that ran it in hopes of sparking my interest and promoting their brand.
Congratulations Yappy.com, you got me.
Before we get to the study, I’d like to spot the radio station’s most spoiled dog. That would be Max, pictured above. Max was my grandma’s dog for about 5 years and when she died Max became mine. He’s been hanging out at work for about the past few months and he’s very, very spoiled.
Steve Shannon brings him pork chops, he has a stall full of girlfriends downstairs in our sales pit that he sprints down the hall to, and he’s never more than 5 minutes away from someone who pats him or until someone pats him again.
Is he a good boy? Depends on the day. He’s pretty stubborn and selective hearing is a bit out of control BUT he’s very cute too so everyone forgive him.
Your eyes are not playing tricks on you, he basically has no legs. Great bread energy.
Sometimes it also looks like this:
Go to the study by Yappy.com.
I give Yappy.com some credit here. They actually described their procedure, which is much more than most of these “studies”. Here is their methodology.
The Most Pampered Dogs in the U.S. data were collected over the past 12 months from May 2020 to May 2021 and examined 300 popular breeds and over 450,000 individual dog profiles created on Yappy.com. Looking at the highest average spend per breed per region, the data shows the overall most spoiled dogs in the United States by breed.
Could there still be a lot of mistakes in sampling and analysis? Of course, but I appreciate that they actually tell me part of the process.
Which dog loves Illinois the most? It is obviously the poodle. Which shocked me because I thought there were no more pure poodles. There are Labradoodles, Burnerdoodles, Cock-a-Poos, Schnoodles, and just about any other breed that has been crossed with a Poodle, but I don’t think I’ve ever met a real Poodle.
Here is the entire list that Yappy.com has provided that you should check out. Some interns have worked hard to at least acknowledge the work. THANK YOU, INTERN!
The interns also made this diagram, which raises some questions. A list of the most AND least spoiled dog names in the United States.
I understand the concept of most pampered, but what does least pampered mean? Does the dog have to complete all tasks before it can eat? Papa never looks him in the eye? Are we talking about neglect? Abuse? It’s a strange concept.
Dear Yappy.com intern, who is probably reading this because I linked your website above and it came up in your searches. You may want to remove the least corrupted list. It’s kind of a downer.
PS Our PhD director Priscilla stopped by my office while I was writing and asked what the post with Max was all about. I explained and she asked if I could insert a picture of her dog and she sent this to me. I edited it to be SFDW (Safe for Dog Work).
Honest question. Do I have to call HR?
